This couple collected modern art, and loved the idea of using this as inspiration for their landscape, wanting to create something with flowing movement and a sculptural effect. We chose Sonia Delaunay, for her echoes of circles and undulating lines.

The stone retaining wall, swirling like a dragon’s tail, divides the upper from the lower lawn with flowers in blues and yellows. The large boulder sculpture was unearthed during the excavation of the wall, and pierced with a perfectly round hole to contrast with its triangular bulk.
